Farm-to-Market Initiative

Consumer demand for, and the benefits of, locally grown produce are well documented. The State of Georgia recognizes this demand, but barriers to the supply and distribution of these food products interfere with fulfilling the demand. This project aims to address the supply and distribution of Georgia produce through the statewide network of farmers markets.

Increasing the Supply of Georgia Grown Produce

The Georgia Department of Agriculture, in cooperation with the Public Performance and Management Group (PPM), an applied research unit in Andrew Young School of Policy Studies at Georgia State University, has been awarded a $55,373 grant from the U. S. Department of Agriculture to conduct research that will ultimately guide efforts to expand local farm-to-market activities in cities throughout Georgia.
